I Finally entered the stamping world and registered on Splitcoaststampers. It has taken me a long time, I know, but better late than never right?

I thought I would start it right and do the Verve August Challenge. You have 4 sketches, you make 4 cards, upload them by the deadline and.....you spend hours looking at all the other awesome cards on there. Oh, and maybe if you're super lucky you might get a gift certificate for Verve Stamps, who sponsor the challenge.

Hi,

Tonight is a really quick post with the card I made for the PPA Challenge no 141. One of my best friends back in Australia, Shiami, asked me to make her some cards for various occasions. The baby ones I knew what I wanted to do, but the mum one was a little bit of a challenge. Not sure why, as for this  Mum's card I previously made for my mum and mother in law I knew exactly what I wanted to make. But I knew I wanted to start with the same stamp set, as I really liked how the embossing letters worked on that card. I know, I know, the spelling is wrong, but what can I do? The stamp is for the US market :-).

Here is the card (entry 77 at PPA):
 And a few different angles:

Close-up to get an idea of the 3D effect. Both the letters and the background watercolored flower part are mounted with stamping dimensionals.

The sketch from PPA Challenge 141 that I used for inspiration:
I really hope you like it Shiami! And most of all hope mum will like it :-). (ps. Hope she doesn't visit my blog :-))). )

Supplies used (all SU unless noted)
Regal Rose and Whisper White Card Stock
Strips of Retired DSP ( I am nearly certain they are all SU)
Square of non-SU floral paper from stash
Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black Ink Pads
SU Markers
Lucky Limeade Ruffle Ribbon
Real Red Button
Twine (retired)
Stamp Set: Messages For Mum

Hope you like tonights card. I need to go and get some beauty sleep, I am not at all accustomed to this waking up every morning early and doing the school run. I mean I'm used to the waking up part, not the I need to be dressed and out the door at 7.45 am part....

Hugs,
Renate
Hi,

I thought I would make a card tonight and combine 2 challenges, as I usually like to do. When I was going through the normal challenges I have started to do weekly I realized there are a lot more that can be combined this week. I started with the sketch from MOJO Monday (entry no. 108), used the colors from The Dynamic Duos (entry no. 54), added some fabric from Stampin' Royalty (entry no. 2 - never been so early in a challenge!!!) and finished it off with paper piercing from The Paper Players (entry no. 28). I know, its a mouthful of challenges but I am really happy with the result.

And here are the sketches and challenges that brought this card together:

Supplies used (SU unless stated):
River Rock and Black Textured Cardstock, Grey and Whisper White Cardstock
Mocha Morning Specialty DSP
Fire Rhinestone Brads
Gold Glitter Paper (not SU)
Ribbon (from stash, not SU)
Pewter Embossing Powder
Heating Gun
Oval, Scallop Oval, Decorative Label and Scallop Edge Punches
Stamp Set: Inkadinkado Wedding set (from Michaels)

Hope you like it! Now I just need a wedding or engagement for this card :-).

Stay tuned, I will have another posting with a few special wedding cards I made for friends and during a class I had in July!

Hugs,
Renate

Hi,

I know the title is a bit of a mouthful! I have recently joined Splitcoast Stampers ( I know, it's taken me a while....) and wanting to do the Viva La Verve Challenges. I love all the sketches the girls do and I can finally upload my cards now.

I really like to combine a sketch with a colour challenge, and sometimes it's harder than it sounds. For example the color combination at COLOUR Q this week
I would NEVER think to combine those colours, let alone do it on the same card! This is why I love color challenges. So I paired this one with the Viva La Verve August Week 1 sketch:
And I really really like how my card turned out:

This is kinda of what i had in my head when I started, but I think the end result is a little more summery than I envisaged it. There is another cure little Daffodil Delight Butterfly on the inside of the card.

Here is the link to the Splitcoast Stampers site (although I am not sure if it is visible to those that are not on)

Supplies used (all SU unless noted):

Taken with Teal (retired) (didn't have the Bermuda Bay and this is close), Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade and Real Red (no Poppy Parade either)
Some retired SU DSP (no idea what it was called, but it had ALL the colours I needed in it and it is super cute for a summer card)
Big shot, Finial Press Embossing Folder ( i think its retired), Circle Scallop Sizzix Die
Gumball Green (no lucky limeade ink pad...), Real Red and Taken with Teal (retired) Ink Pads
Fire Squares Rhinestone Brads (retired)
Stamp Set: Papillion Potpourri
Ribbon from stash, not SU

The second card I have for tonight is for Viva La Verve August Week 2 Challenge
Combined with The Paper Players. The colour challenge this week is:
And my card:

I know, I have been doing a lot of Christmas cards recently, but there is method in the madness, it will be great come november when I have to send a stack of cards I won't have to stay up late as I did last year. And even better, this year they will all be ONE OF A KIND :-))

The link to Split Coast Stampers: Lovely as a Tree
Supplies used (all SU unless noted)

Stamp Set: Lovely as a Tree and Serene Snowflakes for the semicircle (retired), Come to Bethlehem for the sentiment.
Paper: Crumb Cake, Not quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler and White, Be of Good Cheer DSP
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Versamark
Accessories: Embossing Powder in Pewter and Iridescent Ice, Big Shot, Snow Flurry (??) Embossing Folder, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Circle punch and Modern LAbel Punch, Not quite navy brads and red ribbon (from stash, not SU)
Techniques: I first embossed the trees in pewter and wanted to get the snow effect but wasn't too sure how to do it. I thought of using the champagne mist ink but I had used that technique recently and thought I'd try something new.

I thought I'd use the versamark pad all over the image and emboss it with iridescent ice this time, and hoped it would turn out like it was in my head :-). Super happy that it did!

I shadowed the edges with the not quite navy ink and then added some fluffy clouds above the trees.

Really really like how this card turned out!

Really hope you enjoy these two cards, now I'm off to load them to the Colour Q and The Paper Players websites and then I'm off to bed, it's 23.15....Just a few too many past midnights recently for me.

Hugs,
Renate

Dynamic Duos #15 and CCMC 213

Hi,

Just a quick post tonight with a super fast card for The Dynamic Duos and Create with Connie and Mary. Here are the color combinations and the sketch I used:

And here is the finished card:

This is probably one of the quickest cards I ever made. As soon as I saw the sketch I kind of knew what I wanted in my head. The hard part was finding DSP to go with the color scheme....I found some retired SU DSP (don't even know the name of it) in a green and pink that are very close to those colors.

I have been wanting to use the Quintessential Flower Stamp set again, and this sketch was perfect for it! I LOVE how many times you can layer this stamp and the versatility it gives! It will be used many times!

I really like how the ribbon edging with the knot turned out, I had that in my head and Im actually surprised it turned out so good :-).

Supplies used (all SU unless noted):

Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White Card Stock
Pink Pirouette 1 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (retired)
Certainly Celery 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon
I dont have the subtles ink pads, so I improvised: Gable Green, Green Galore, Pixie Pink, Cameo Coral and Regal Rose ink pads.
Soft Subtles Brads
Scallop Edge Border and Eyelet Border Punches
Ginger Blossom, Bali Breeze DSP (browsed some old catalogues and found the names of the papers I used :-) ) (retired)
The middle layer with the green and pink flower is from the scrap pile :-)

Hope you like this card,

Hugs,
Renate
