This week at Dynamic Duos the challenge is: Week 4-Monochromatic-same colours in different hues (light/dark) 

And here is my card:

 Its a Waterfall card and my first attempt at making one. Quite tedious process, but maybe because it was my first? Not sure...It was fun though and love how it turned out.

I did not have Early Espresso, so used Chocolate Chip instead. Crumb Cake for the background and Mocha Morning DSP.

Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip card stock
Mocha Morning SPecialty DSP
Antique Brads
Ribbon from stash jar (i am pretty sure it is SU)
Circle and square punches.


Hope you like it. It is really nice in person coz you can see the cascading much better, but hope you get the idea :-)

I feel so very blessed for one of my cards to have gotten an honorable mention on the Just Add Ink Website for the JAI 127 Challenge. Its like coming second, which is not bad for one of my first entries in these types of challenges.

The card featured is probably my favorite so far and I am glad a few other people thought it was
nice :-).

Hi All,

I had a class last night and it went till about 11ish, and ended up going to bed really late. The result? Overly tired this morning, so I needed something to de stress. So this is my morning me time result :-). But it was SOOO much fun and the girls had a great time making their lovely cards (will post on the blog in the next few days) and catching up with each other.

I didn't add a sentiment and left the inside blank on purpose. This way I can use it for different occasions.

It started with the Paper Pals Art Sketch 139. (Card Entry no.34)

The stamp set I chose for it was Serene Silhouettes and thought it would be really nice on a neutral color combo, and the Just Add Ink 127 Color Combo (mine is card no.22)was perfect!

Went with the Mocha Morning Specialty Paper from SU. The colors were black and white and a color of my choosing. Mocha Morning goes really well with crumbcake card stock. So I went with, black white and crumbcake. I really like how the ribbon at the side turned out. I was going to use a strip of paper and then discovered this wide black double stitched ribbon from SU in my scrap jar and thought it was just perfect!

Yeap, another Mojo Monday card time! And I am getting into a really nice routine of actually getting them done on Monday! Love starting the week so creatively.

I have had the Sweetheart set for a long time and never used it. When i saw the sketch this morning I immediately thought of this set and the Cheerful Treat Designer Paper (I wish this one would have been carried into this catalog). There is something about the Wild Wasabi, Melon Mambo and Elegant Eggplant combination!

So here is the sketch from the Mojo Monday website:

Really happy with the result and Love love love the color combination!

Also entered this pretty card in the Simon Says Stamps Challenge. My card is  no 215. Thought it would go well seeing as the challenge said Anything Goes :-) with dies. I used the Framelits Labels Collection and the Oval and scalloped Oval Punches.

I made this cute little card for one of my best friends little boy, Elijah. They came to the US back in June and we were very lucky to have them over for about a week! Talk about a treat! I know Elijah is mad about trains so I thought what other card would he really enjoy? The Choo Choo is such a cute set for any little boy who likes trains. And of course it goes with the wheel that does the tracks. I used the Build a Cupcake set to make the clouds :-).

Thought this is another really cute card for the  Verve Stamps July DIva Dare 2012.

Now that I have sent this beautiful card to my mum (not her birthday, it was just because I love her, and also my daughter was desperately needing to her and dad some of her many drawings) and one to my other lovely mother (in-law) for her birthday I can finally post it!

This design is probably one of my favorites so far! I love the fold of the card itself and the flowers look really nice watercolored. The stamp set is called Messages for Mum. I embossed the letters with Melon Mambo, Wasabi and Cherry Cobler embossing powders and then snipped them and added them with dimensionals. The edges are done with the Scallop Tim Border Punch.

And this cute birthday card is perfect for the VERVE Stamps July DIVA DARE VERVE Stamps July DIVA DARE which has a Birthday them this time! (Happy Birthday Julee!)

I thought I would catch up on showing you some of my latest projects. I have quite a few to do, and here is the the first one.

I always find it hard to do birthday cards for males. Why? Well because the supplies are limited. No brads, no ribbons, so sparkles, no organza....Or SO I thought....

Here are a few of the masculine birthday cards I recently made.

I made this card for my brother-in-law's birthday back in April. I love the Lovely As A Tree set and it looks even better embossed!! This time I used the silver embossing powder. I stuck with the Old Olive and Chocolate Chip combination from the previous card but changed to Crumb Cake. I kept the embossing on white card stock. It comes out really clean. And who said you can't use ribbon for a masculine card??

Another take on the Lovely as a Tree card with Very vanilla cardstock and on a chocolate chip background. And I even used a button! And TWO types of ribbon...And it still looks quite masculine. LOVE the result of this one!!!

 This one uses the recently retired Medallion stamp. Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Old Olive make a really nice combination. The medallion stamp was stamped 3 times ,once in old olive for the square, once in chocolate chip for the circle and again in old olive for the little flower in the middle. They are each attached with dimensionals to make them pop.

The last two cards were a take of a fellow demonstrators tree I saw online and really liked the turquoise, roan and olive combination. And they are really good for a guy's birthday :-). Really like the top one with the wide ribbon tied with twine.

Hi,

I thought I would start the week on a super crafty note and decided to do the Mojo Monday on.... Monday :-). That way I might actually get slightly more cards done throughout the week.

Here is the sketch:

And here are the cards I made:

This is a 5x7 card using the new In Color Gumball Green. Looks really good paired with a Cherry Cobler piece from the DSP called Be of good cheer, the Midnight Muse and Chocolate Chip cardstock. Some glimmer paper for the sparkly effect and the Golden embossed christmas tree from Snow Swirled complete a lovely Christmas card. I can start my Christmas collection early :-).

The ribbon is Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon with a cute little square brad for a centre.

The background for the second card is Chocolate Chip. The Rose Red card stock is embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. To get an even more vintagey look I inked the embossing folder with chocolate chip ink. Really like the end result!

The stamp set is the new Hostess Set called Four Seasons, one of the free sets you can get with a $150 order through me from Stampin Up. 

I used the new Raspberry Ripple for the background and punched it with the scallop punch, and the little bird I stamped and punched again with the 1' punch. The bird was colored with Stampin Markers, Pretty in Pink, Garden Green and Chocolate Chip.

I kept with the 3 colors and added the banners at the bottom in Garden Green and Pretty in Pink.

The sentiment was again colored with markers and punched with the oval punch, and then layered on a Garden Green Scallop punch. The little butterfly from the Four Seasons set completes the scene :-)

The main ribbon is not Stampin Up (I have quite a collection of miscellaneous ribbons that I go to for a specific color or pattern I need if I don't have something matching from SU). It is a really bright pink but i decided to cover it in light pink organza...not sure if I would do this again, quite a TEDIOUS process for it to come out nice. But really pleased with the result!

It's not quite Monday, I know I am slightly behind, but I am glad they leave the linky open till sunday night to participate in the challenge :-).

One of my really good friends Tin, asked me for a baby card for a boy and I knew I wanted to use the handprints  and I thought the sketch for this week was really cute, and decided to pair them together.

I used a retired Stampin Up set for the handprints (no idea of the name) but the handprints look the same as the ones in Baby Prints which is a CURRENT set in the catalogue.

I embossed the handprints in silver and I am super happy with the result! I layered the handprints on a bit of pumpkin pie paper.

I really like blue and yellow for a boy and used some Taken With Teal retired paper (working on using my retired stash- keep wondering why they retired this color, I LOVE IT), Daffodil delight and the DSP is also from a retired set called Big Top Birthday. The Daffodil Delight paper is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.

There is a scallop centre line with two strips of marina mist and daffodil delight ribbon and 3 buttons at the bottom. I really like the look of the twine in the buttons :-)

The second picture shows the inside of the card with a sentiment from the God's Blessings set.

I know, I know, two posts in one day! WOW, I even impressed myself. But seeing as I am up waiting for Jamie who is coming back from China, I thought I might as well get onto the card for the Mojo Monday challenge that is current for this week.

I had to use the same stamp I used for the previous post, The Sitting Jolinne from My Favorite Things Stamps. She is just too irresistible!

I used a combination of retired papers actually (I only just noticed most are retired...), the background is textured Early Espresso, with a layer of DSP called Razzleberry Lemonade. The scallop trim border is on So Saffron textured paper also.

I then layered the Rich Razzleberry and regal rose yardstick and added the sitting Jolinne with 3 Dimensionals. The ribbon is So Saffron and the bow is held together with a rhinestone brad.

Flower is made using the Boho Blossoms and the Blossoms Petal Builder punches. On top I put a flower  button from the Brights Button Collection.

Wish me luck! First time entry coincides with the Mojo Monday Contest Week! I could definitely use an extra stamp set! Just in case you missed the pictures with my stash, you can go back and see I really do not have enough :-)

Mojo Monday is one of my favorite websites that I regularly visit. I have used many of the sketches to make cards but never actually entered one of the cards in the sketch challenge. The challenge for which this card was made is unfortunately closed now, but it turned out so CUTE, I had to post it tonight :-). And the first card was too cute to resist, so I made several color variations.

I am planning to play with the sketches regularly, so you might be in for a treat every week...

For those of you that are following my blog and wondered what has happened with me, well, I'm still around, still crafting, just haven't put the time aside to actually post any of the things I have done.

A lot has happened since my last post. March and April we had adventures in Europe, France, and Connecticut (east coast of the US where we used to live a while ago, for my Aussie friends), changed a leaf in the passing of time as I joined my friends in their thirties (I was told the thirties are great and if you all lied to me I will not be very happy!) , came home and were sick for a while and then we had wonderful friends from Australia come and visit. (Jeremy and Shiami it was an ABSOLUTE pleasure to have you guys over, and we treasured every minute of it! We love you guys!)

Jamie had to go to Paris for a conference with work and seeing as it was around my 30th birthday I thought it would be just perfect to tag along! And my mum was able to join us for a few days and we surprised my grand'ma with this trip also!

When we were in CT I had the pleasure to stay with two of my dearest girlfriends, Rebeca and Marta and I even got treated to going out with the girls about 3-4 times!! Thanks to Rebeca's wonderful mum who offered to watch the kids! Thank you Lidia :-)

Well after the long 4 week holiday was finished and we came home (Jamie had come home after France as someone has to do paid work to support all these overseas trips right? Thanks hon, I love you) we all got sick. That was downright nasty! Jamie managed to get this really bad flu from somewhere and brought it home and was bed ridden for nearly a week. And when Jamie does not get out of bed a whole day, you know its really bad!! I mean he didn't even go to the garage or his CAD work....he was really sick. After 5-6 days I thought, gee this is really good, I've managed to not get this, my immune system is awesome! And then the next day that was it! Sure enough it lasted about the same, one week, but I have to say it was a very long week looking after the kids when you're sick and tired and the kids bounce of the walls...I had never been so sick in my life and don't ever want to experience the flu again! Miserable miserable week!

And then we were blessed to have fear friends from australia visit for 9 days! This is how I get to go into SF and do touristy things! Loved every minute of their visit and was very happy to see them again. And I was also in for a treat, Shiami did some Sri Lankan cooking :-)))

and and and....and that brings me to today...

I thought it was about time to get my act together and publish some of the things that I have been up to....

One of the girls at church had a baby and I was thought it would be nice to make a new card for her. I had some in my box, but they were more boyish ones, and I wanted a very girly one for this new little baby girl. So this is what I came up with.

I used a retired Stampin' Up set with lots of babies (not sure of the name as I do not have the box), but it is very versatile. I did not have a current baby set to use, and this one is so very cute! The saying is from a SU set called For a Friend.

Not sure how visible it is from the pics, but it is actually a window card, the baby pics are punched with a square punch and glued to the card itself. Above it there is a layer of Melon Mambo cardstock in which I had punched 3 windows with the same square punch and adhered that with 3 dimensional foam to make it pop.

I then used a layer of the lovely DSP Cheerful Treat in melon mambo and Wasabi (unfortunately that is retired also, pity it was my favorite!) and then glued the sentiment on the curly label punch, layered another one underneath and attached them with 3D foam.

BIRDIES, BIRDIES, BIRDIES!! 

I had a few days of mad crafting and made a few cards that I had been wanting to make for a long time! I have a whole folder on my computer with cards that I want to try to use as inspiration. Finally it was birdies time. This one is greet as there is no stamping! I used the bird punch for the front, but added 2 wings on the birdie. I thought it would look really nice to add another wing in the DSP paper that i used on the left panel. Only the last card uses Stampin Up Designer paper, I had some really nice paper leftover from my kids scrapbooks and I wanted to use it. The orange and pink ones are really beautiful, shimmery and embossed. The orange ones went really well with the Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive Cardstock, and for the pink one i used Rich Razzleberry and Very vanilla.

For the inside I chose to add the top note die cut with the Sizzix Big Shot- this has got to be the most versatile and used die SU sells!-.

The card is the normal size, but the front is folded in the facing the outside and then it is tied with a a ribbon. I love the effect this gives. I sent the bottom one to Elizabeth, my sister in law and she really liked it :-)

Well, if you've made it this far, congrats on your patience! I promise I will try to be slightly more consistent with my posts. I have quite a few more projects to share, including some birthday calendars that the girls made at my FIRST calendar class!!! Thanks for coming :-)
